“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of the child, there are seven million”
-Walt Streightiff
What is Wonders Playclass?
This type of engagement encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving, and creativity. Allowing children to use their five senses in play is important work for the development of fine motor, cognitive, and language skills.
Rather than copying an adult’s creation, process art allows a child to create for the joyful experience of creating. With these experiences, children have a space to express their emotions and thoughts, and regulate feelings through critical thinking.
Fred Rogers once said, “Play is really the work of childhood…” Wonders Playclass is specifically curated and designed for outdoor discovery and is a space where exploration flourishes, curiosity is celebrated, and independence thrives. A space to embrace each child’s imagination, potential, and wonder.

Reminders:
Get to
know Clare
After studying elementary education, Clare found herself in a preschool classroom after college in 2010 and fell in love with the developing minds of such young learners. The creativity, big personalities, tremendous growth, and each child’s unparalleled joy for their exploration inspired her to pursue a graduate degree. Clare graduated from Erikson Institute in Chicago with a M.S. in Child Development and continued her early childhood teaching career at Bennett Day School downtown Chicago.
It was at Bennett, a school inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where she truly began to understand the importance of being little and observe the remarkable learning in young children when they are involved in rich, meaningful play. Loris Malaguzzi, the founder of this approach, famously said: “Observe & listen to children because when they ask “why?” they are not simply asking for the answer from you. They are requesting the courage to find a collection of possible answers.” Clare uses this reminder for her inspiration in providing meaningful, sensory-rich, and joyful play for children. She currently works part time in a preschoool nearby and is a Mom of 2.
